Untraditional solution for extension to a home in Dragør

A construction with an offset column to accommodate the existing construction

In this construction, there were several elements that had to fit into a higher unity. This has led to a somewhat unconventional but well-functioning solution. In the new construction, we had to take into account an already planned window. This arose a need to make the supporting column offset.

Here, extra engineering calculations were required which placed higher demands on the execution of the project. During the project, we have been in close dialogue with the client to find the right solution, while the architect has also been aware of the challenge.

This is a building where there has been a focus on ensuring that the extension has the same look as the original building and that the look is preserved. In particular, extra thought has been given to maintaining the original look, so that no changes had to be made to the existing construction.

However, the extension gets an unconventional look due to the offset column, but it does not compromise the original look from the construction. Furthermore, there has been a focus on complying with energy requirements, so that the requirements for heat loss can be met. This is an element affected by the offset column.
